Join ChIME students as they hear from Sr. Anne McCarthy, OSB, who will explore and discuss her experiences in modern Christian faith traditions, sacraments and social action:

The Christian sacraments of initiation, which are central across denominations, can be powerful experiences for prayer and reflection. Anointing of the sick can be a helpful end of life ritual for the individual as well as for family and loved ones. To experience sacrament and ritual as Christian prayer experience, we will follow the model of the ancient teacher, St. Gertrude the Great of Helfta.

We will enter into prayer and spiritual practice with the elements of baptism and also anointing of the sick: we will pray with water, blessed oil, with laying on of hands, and with fire.  These accessible prayer experiences may be helpful for practicing Christians as well as for Christians and non-Christians not currently practicing with a religious community.
